written by NEVILLE AKERS
|
Since 1987 a number of reforms have taken place. In December 1995 the membership voted that Mill Hill Golf Club be a Members' Club. It started trading as such on 1 April 1996. At the AGM in February 1997 the restriction on playing times for lady members was removed.
A new lease was negotiated and signed with the Borough of Barnet for a further 50 years as from 1 April 1999 which will be increased to 125 years if the Club builds a new Clubhouse on the West (course) side of the A1. The Avengers Season Four, Episode 18 "The 13th Hole" was filmed at the Mill Hill Golf Club, which was re-named the Crableigh Golf Club for the occasion. The Episode was broadcast on 28 January 1966, starring Patrick Macnee as John Steed and Diana Rigg as Emma Peel

Mote Mount Golf Club one of the newest playgrounds for Londoners, was opened recently. It is situated half-an-hour's run from London and can be reached in ten minutes by car from Edgware Tube Station. The Clubhouse designed by Miss A J Cooke, daughter of the President, is extremely comfortable. It contains a special ladies' section ; and as all the floors are parquet, it is most convenient for dances. The all-weather golf school attached to the clubhouse is a notable feature of Mote Mount.
